Jail Bars - Diameter?

Anyone know offhand what the OD diameter of the jail bars are? I had an idea to swap them for impact resistent clear acrylic pipes and light them from the ends.

half Fill the tube with two imiscable (?) flourescent liquids! und use UV leds!
