Chosen the bank holiday as the day to put back engine, checking the clutch plate showed a couple of cracks in the friction material between the rivets, is it about to give up or do I just put it back in and hope!

Is it best to get a kit or just a new plate??

Cheers

Its upto you, if you don't mind pulling it out again. Always best to replace as a kit and does not cost much more. The cracks could get bigger or stay the same, alot goes with how you drive it.

I guess it depends how much you like dropping the gearbox out. If you don't want to be doing it again in hurry get a kit and replace everything whilst it's accessible, if money is tight and your happy dropping the box sooner or later then just the friction disc (if you can buy one on it's own) or leave it (I've no idea about how long the one you have may last)

i've never put a pressure plate in owt in me life. if a clutch starts slipping i immediately put a friction plate in. (in 26 yrs of driving only two)
put a friction plate in as yours wasn't even slipping. think green,, don't sling your pressure plate etc till its proper buggered!!!!
