Hi, we have been using a 15-50 oil and im about to do an oil change and been offered some 15-40 is there much difference and will ok be ok to put in a 1980 Aircooled t25?

Use it. You wont notice any difference unless your engine is very worn. Even then it only means an occasional top-up.
