2.1 Temp Problems

Fitted a new pressure tank yesterday as the old one had cracked with age and as I was short of time, took the van to my local 'VW friendly' garage today for him to top up and bleed the system.

Collected the van this evening and in spite of a good run out, the temp gauge was way way down from its usual steady mid point... the heater was pumping out hot air though

So I can have a sensible conversation with the garage tomorrow could it be: -

1. Sudden thermostate failure - even though it's less than a year old?

2. Problematic temperature sender?

3. Poorly bled system?

4. Something else?

Thanks

Paul

give the temp sender contact a good clean with emery cloth.thats what i did.(i lie thats what andy simpson did) when mine was showing under cooling on the gauge...it solved my problem.

you might already know, but the temp sender for the gauge, if it needs a clean, as mentioned above, is on the thermostat housing, not the one in the white tank, that ones the low level warning i think, which makes the scary red light flash!
