The exhaust lookis in pretty good nick but it is blowing because the back silencer has parted company with the pipe, nice and cleanly around the weld.
Question is should i replace the backbox or find someone that can weld?

Get a new backbox, if it has rusted through at that point it`s going to be pretty thin, weak and rusty, so welding will be hard work and it won`t last long. New backboxes not too expensive

Yeah, I agree with westy, would be a pain in the ass to weld and, in time it would crack again at the side of the new weld.

I would agree with Westy.Club.Joker that the box may be pretty thin and worn. But i had a down pipe off the turbo and back box that had fractured where pipes join.I took off the exhaust system reinforced the weak areas with steel sheet and welded up .As i can weld i suppose it was worth it.But as Westy.club.joker said new backboxes are not to expensive .

Need to replace mine but fancy a twin pipe like the one from Bluebird (Product: twin tail 1700 up - part number) but this lists as being early water cooled. Mine is a 86 watercooled anyone know if it will fit?
