having just purchased a pair of sliding windows from a bloke at bus types, i offered them up to the fixed ones on my bus only to find they are too small.
the windows were said to be off a '88 caravelle and have measurements of- outer edge of frame- 105.5cm X 43cm
inner edge(raised) around the glass- 102.5cm X 40.5cm

the window appature on my '81 camper conv (minibus on V4) is- 108cm X 43cm approx. are the windows wrong or is my bus converted from a panal van. can anyone shed light on this mess?

are the window rubbers resessed or proud on your van?

factory window rubbers are resessed and do not stand proud of the frame . panel van windows are easy to spot by the rubbers sticking out beyond the panel

velles do have smaller side windows in height than.campers i know because ive just sold a camper and bought a velle.how much did you pay for the slider.i might be interested in it as a spare.if your looking to sell it on...

the windows appear to be recessed, and all seem to have genuine vag glass in them (with etched vw-audi emblems etc). thinking about it, its a minibus on the log book but it has twin sliding doors (one on each side) which from what i have seen looks a bit odd. any help?

i bought two windows @£30 a side so if i can't sort them to fit would really want to get what i paid for them. just a word of advice, measure up your van before you buy random windows! cheers

I have been looking for windows to fit into my panel van and have been considering caravelle ones. However, several people have told me that you cannot fit caravelle windows into a panel van, even using 'standard' (ie not caravelle) rubbers.

Can you please help my understanding by letting me have measurements for the mounting flange around the edge of the frame. That is, how far does it stick out from the frame (10-12mm perhaps?) and how thick is it (2-3mm?).

i've got an early twin slider caravelle too,
i know we aint the only ones with 'em and
that's factory spec.

from memory . .

early sliding windows are bigger than late sliding windows (proved above)

'fixed' side windows are the same size on early & late vans (not 100 % sure bout that bit)

to fit a slider to the 'fixed' side of a late van you need an 'early' sliding door slider (n/s or o/s depending on if your vans rhd / lhd)

so in your case big blue, you need 2 sliders from an early van mate

only thing I would ask, have them windows you've bought come from a late twin sliding door or a single door / fixed side?

Might be that one of them is the right size if they've come from a late 'fixed' side?

To confirm what Big Blue has put.

The buses with the early sliding door - Up to 1985ish had the windows on both sides of the bus the same size.
The later sliding door(s) had a smaller window.

the mounting flange is 12mm wide and a couple of mil thick.

anybody bought old spec sliders for a new spec bus? want to swap?
i'll be putting them up for sale in the for sale section if anybodies intrested in buying, but would prefer a straight swap if anyones out there in the same mess as me

If you are interested the overall size including the flange of the "Old" sliding door window and the window opposite (fixed in the van one, if you have only one sliding door, all years) is 1082mm x 427mm give of take a mm.
