My '85 DG petrol recently let me down on the way to work at night........lights all started dimming eventually giving up.got a tow home turns out the cable between the alternator and the starter etc had perished and rotted thru'.Managed to clean it back to a good section and get it charging the alternator again.
Question.....can I still get the cable from VW?, my spannerman reckons the cable's only available aftermarket in 50 metre reels which is a bit more than I need!.
I've checked the WIKI but can't see anything relating to my problem, anyone out there had a similar problem and solved it?,cheers All

just buy or use a cheap jump lead, chop off the croc clip.........
