Nubee alert ! Q - is a 1.6TD enough for a Syncro?

trying to substitute not having a syncro despite looking for months  with silly questions. feel free to ignore my ignorant newbie questions but have heard that a 1.6TD could be a bit puny for a syncro. No delusions of grandure, no Paris Dakar or 90 mph on the motorway, just 70 and a bit of not too adventurous off road and beach action, 1.6 TD man enough ?

Manages to get me pretty much everywhere ive asked it too.

There have been a few occasions where i would've liked a bit more grunt, but that was only really when i was asking it to go silly places.

Does do about 30 to the gallon though, which i hear is a fair bit better than the petrols.......

Believe that SyncroAndy McClements is very happy with his 1.6TD Sika Syncro.

All I'd say that there is quite a difference betwen a good one and a not so good one... but at least you'll have all the bits to upgrade to a 1.9TD should you ever need or desire to go that route...

Go for it, they are lovely off-road !

Barely adequate on-road, I must say with 15" rims and MTs, it's now slightly over-geared. It cruises at 60-65 on the motorway, and can just about get to 70 when pushed.

Off-road, I've only used mine the once at CF a few weeks ago, but I had fun finding out slowly I could climb obstacles. I'm not used to diesels, so the torque surprised me.

I'd suggest prioritising sorting out all the running gear, transmission and brakes, before contemplating an engine-swap.

I sat in a few and watched all of them at coney farm and your pickup/driving was the smoothest and less dramatic of all, excluding the mud pit

Many thanks guys, I think, based on your advice a 1.6 would do. Ta.
