Has any one put a RHD speedo cable on their LHD? Just wondering if it's way too long etc. I ask because I think mine is bust and VW, JK and Euro Car Parts don't have them, however JK do a RHD one. Mine is a 1981 Westy-LHD-with the screw in type speedo cable. Or will it now be a case of installing a later push on cable type speedo, and then get a push on cable?

i have lhd and the cable is push fit to the nearside wheel which i believe is same for rhd so they should fit ring local vw garage mine is excellent for that sort of thing

The early cables screwed onto the speedo head Sevy, that`s what he means. later types have the plastic clip-on thing that snaps!

Can`t see the LHD cable fitting a RHD Dubber, it`s almost a direct run on the LHD so is shorter than you`d think, UNLESS the RHD cable is routed on the right side from the drivers side wheel bearing cap in which case it may just be a mirror-image of the LHD and it would fit???

Mine is LHD and is routed from the bearing cap, through a hole in the centre of the wheel hub and then curves upwards past the spare wheel and then up at the side of the radiator, then through a grommet in the front bulkhead and into the cab behind the speedo. Does this routing sound the same as yours, but on the opposite side??

No, mine just comes out of the nearside wheel, attaches to a few chassis points then goes straight up through the bulkhead and to the clocks. I can get a RHD screw in cable, but as they all go to the nearside wheel (correct me if I'm wrong on that point), it'll obviously be longer than my LHD drive cable. I'm just worried if I get one I'll have to thread it around a few things before I put it into the clocks and this might break it or not work the speedo.
