i know its not a t25 but its still a vw so come on guys gimme your advice

right ive just replace all my engine mounts on my mk1 golf with poly ones but the front one there was a big gap so ive made a spacer up to take any free play up but now in botherd that my mounts are gonna be to solid!!!!

what are peoples opion on this is it better to have hardly any/ nearly none

or abit of freeplay??

im sure ive seen solid metal ones for a mk2 golf?????

I have to say that solid engine mounts in any road car sound like a really stupid idea.

What was wrong with the original mounts?!

Bone shaker...vibrations from engine will go right through car...

Poly bushes still allow movement in the engine so it won't be too bad but you will get more vibration and noise through the shell than with stock rubber mounts.
On a transversley mounted engine and gearbox, solid mounting it can help/get rid off torque steer as its dependant on driveshaft angles etc. You have to have a lotta hp first though.

Some folks fit a solid mounted front mount to the Engine in Golf's and leave the rear engine mounts as stock or poly-urethane. This is usually done in conjunction with a race 4into1 merged exhaust header which can't handle much engine movement.
