LED lighting in your garage/workshop

I mentioned this in passing in my syncro build thread, but its worth mentioning again.
Garage/workshop/shed lighting is so often not considered an essential, but for the money these days you'd me mad to not make the swap.
I changed a pair of 5ft single tubes for a pair of 6ft (1800mm) Ansell Tornado LED single battens.
I did reposition them from the long sides of the garage to transverse at approx ¼ and ¾ of the way along, the light is incredible and not too harsh, they are 4000K temp.
I installed a load of the twin batten version at our works a while back, resulting in a 60% reduction in our lighting kw/h and a lot more lumens, it was a revelation. They have a 40,000+ hour life so thats 20 years based in a 40 hour week, 45 weeks a year. You won't need to buy them again!
I bought from electrical2go if you are in the market for a reliable retailer.

Good stuff.
The energy savings are correct but the life expectancy - not a chance.

My mistake, Ansell say LED life is 50-54,000 hours.
Even if they only last half that, are you going to spend that may hours in your garage?
12 years based on a 40 hour week?

I have 10 in my garage, one of them buzzes a little but they are certainly better than what was there before. It still isn't enough when painting and doing bodywork though so I also have a bunch of led floodlights on various stands that I can position about.

Not sure if these are the exact ones, Don't recall where I got them from.

I have them in my garage too. Brilliant lights but they play hell with FM radios!! I had to get a portable DAB radio to avoid the interference!!

Thats odd, we have fm in the works and that radio is fine with 16-20 double LED battens on, but the dab I have in the side room is disrupted by the battery doorbell!

DAB in garage works just fine.

I think I replaced my Fluos with LED's a few years back, but honestly can't remember. The fact they come on may indicate the latter.
