How to sell a vehicle without being ripped off?

Don't laugh - I've always part-ex'd my cars in the past!
Anyway, moving country soon and taking the van with me (of course!) - which means I need to sell my car. You hear all sorts of horror stories so I was looking for an idiot's guide to selling a car...
Anyone know of one?
Or can you talk me through how to do it?!

sold my vitara on ebay. no problems

previously just stuck it in a local paper, showed anyone round it who wanted to view and sold. if i can do it, im sure you can manage

If you get paid in cash or bankers draft, insist on taking them to the bank with you to pay them in.
It is a bit of a nuisance but you'll know if the payment is valid or not.
Don't bother with a cheque.

Hey, I did. It was sunny today, so it's had its first wash since I bought it!

wot is it Dan ,
Chloe's car is in the repair shop at the mo , someone hit it

and cos its only a 1.9 306 pug worth loads more to us than the insurance company it could be wrote off

, also a chapping i work with gets his license back asap ..
as for selling it ebay , with a little help up

make sure you do a recipt with sold as seen on it you both sighn so you wont get any come backs if it blows up or owt.

N'owt wrong with it, it is just that we'll have enough on getting the wife's micra and our T3 across on t'ferry! I'm going to be using the van as my daily driver, so I hope it all works out. Should do with the amount of money Mr. Baxter wants from me at the moment!

Just been doing the rounds of advertising my car, including putting it on here
Someone put me on to
Freeads its totally free to advertise, they make their money from folk calling up to contact buyers, but a friend of a friend sold their car on there in 3 days, so may be worth a go!
