One for the air cooled bunch

Long story short, did a service for a chap with a CU with twin solex carbs, a lot of play in the spindles on the carbs ones leaking petrol badly but only when the engine isn't running. I've advised him about the leak and that it would probably let air in as well meaning you'd never be able to get the balance right or mixture settings so ideally needs new carbs/refurb. Hes been in touch with eurocarb and they advised him to swap to the single weber kit.. now somewhere in the back of my head I recall this being bought up and people would have issues with this setup compared to the two solex carbs, but for the life of me cannot recall where i've seen it or if i've just imagined that.
I suppose it depends on the quality of the carb you're putting on as most aftermarket stuff is shockingly bad.
I do not know of anyone who would rebush the carb in the UK to take all the slop out of the throttle spindle, so if anyone knows of someone or a company that will rebush/rebuild solex carbs or even an exchange basis please let me know.
I don't want to advise him to get the single weber as again I just recall a thread of multiple people saying they had nothing but problems.
