SU diaphragm type petrol pump

Has anyone tried using an SU diaphragm type electric petrol pump? I read in practical classics recently that they are quieter than most and only pump petrol when required rather than constantly. I currently have a pertronix(?) type which works well but is very noisy despite being mounted using rubber washers between it and the chassis

They’re standard fitment on lots of cars, pretty reliable and low pressure for use with carbs , they are fairly quiet

They usually respond well to a hammer if the trembler contacts get dirty...but since a carb wbx engine has a perfectly good mechanical pump integrated into the design, why reinvent the wheel?

I wouldn’t normally but 1980 is air-cooled and was running on an electric pump when we got it
Thanks for the reply though
