Hi folks, what experience have you had of compressor fridges?

Ideally make, model, price and if you would or would not buy again….

On my radar are:

Boo 50L (as on Coombe Valley Campers)
Alpicool CR50X

Open to people making a case for chest style fridges too.

I've currently got a dometic CRX50 in my T2 - been faultless for the last 8 years or so... Considering putting a cheat fridge on sliders in my next build...

The crx50 creates ice and freezes stuff if you're not careful and set the temperature for the ambient 🤣🤣 sometimes far too efficient..

I usually click it right down overnight as the compressor kicks in an awful lot

I've been using outsunny compressor coolboxes which are awesome, for the last few years.

Cheap and they work as a fridge or freezer

They do them as 30,40 or 50 litre, 40 is physically a good size in a camper

On Amazon the 40 is currently £143.99

50l is £165

Run off 12volt or mains adaptor which is all included, and have digital control for setting the temperature.

Alpicool stuff is chinese made but the more "traditional" brands have been resting heavily on their laurels for two decades, there's very little difference in quality.
The compressors themselves are all very very similar, and supposedly all come out of the same factory (just badged "LG" in more premium stuff).

For the price, I'd always go Alpicool of they do one in the size and shape you want. I have a couple and they have given me no bother.
the toploader chest fridges are very energy efficient, I spent £800+ on a Vitrifrigo one for my T6. It's a great fridge, but the first two they sent me were DOA!!
