So, exciting news!
She drove on the road for the first time in 12 years! Just around the block to see what happened!

Nothing spectacular went wrong but the brakes certainly need attention!

Start off okay, but getting proper brake fade, i only went slow speed, so that’s quite concerning! Wouldn’t want to be stopping from 60! Okay 50, okay 45…

I’ve not touched the brakes at all during my restoration, so I guess I just need a complete renewal of pads and shoes and fluid. Then go from there.

The only reason I’ve not touched the brakes is the ones on there are brand new. The previous owner changed them for the test, it failed on bodywork, he parked it in the garage and didn’t touch it for 11 years. Would they just deteriorate overtime?

Anyone got any suggestions. No obvious leaks, pedal stays firm when I press it down.

New pads need bedding in, but, what was the state of the old disks like? If they were badly worn, then the pads could only making contact on their inner and outer edges. I'd have a look at the disks first.

Doesn’t sound like brake fade , sounds like the brakes aren’t very good , either they need bedding in if they’re new or replacing if worn or knackered
