would like to get my van converted to gas but i am bein told that the engine has to be warm to switch to gas? I only do short trips around 10 mile radius so would it be worth me changing and how much would it cost roughly???? cheers ROB i have a 1.9 not sure of code (dg dh etc..) 84 kamper carvelle

Nope - the way Steve Shaw does it you'll be able to start up on LPG with both Aircooled and wbx vans.......... :D

It costs about 900 quid(ish) - and you'll get your money back in less than 7000 miles - probably nearer 5000 if LPG is less than 40p round your way and petrol is nearer £1........ :D

mine changes over to LPG within seconds, doesn't seem to make any difference if it's a cold or warm day,

Once you've tried LPG - I doubt you'll go back. It's great for short trips, mostly because you know that your van will be getting bad mpg, but it's only cost you a third the price of petrol........

Your MPG will vary depending on your engine - it's reckoned you should get 10% less - but we've found it to be roughly the same as what we get on petrol - both with the wbx and Aircooled vans...... :D

Hi Robs,

Full tank of liquid gold = 230-250 miles @ £50 (ish ?!!)
50 Litres of LPG = 180-210 miles @ £20ish

Speak to Steve Shaw ... Top Bloke, ask anyone who's running on gas. As for starting on petrol,I've never had to do it, only on the very coldest mornings the van (1.9DG) fires and then second try starts and runs fine.

Ian.

i think i have only run my van on petrol 3 times since i converted it to gas
and mocki does not even have a petrol pump on his van?

mine starts from cold no problem it has been stood unused for a month and starts first time no worries

i should tell you mine has a 1.8 golf engine and not the normal WBX.
