A headlight question for owners of Swedish vans

In my Swedish imported T3, one of the things I love is that when the ignition is on, the rear lights and front low beam headlamps come on with the headlight switch in the off position. My lights are always on so I rarely have to use the switch. It is usually off.

In the middle position of the switch I have only parking lights, and if I wish to have full beam I have to actually use the switch but that isn't often.
The other evening, I drove through the well lit village, but when I turned up an unlit side road, I couldn't see very much. I had to use the headlight switch to be able to see properly . This has never happened before and it turns out that now I dont have dipped headlights when the ignition is on, only the side lights. The headlights work perfectly when I use the switch, dipped and full.

I know that the headlight switch is standard so presume there is some relay that the swedes use that UK spec T3s dont have.
And I cant find a Swedish specific wiring diagram so have no idea where to start looking to fix it.
Any advice, as always, much appreciatedĀ  :D

In my experience, most problems with headlights are resolved by checking and cleaning the various contacts in the headlight wiring, in particular the earth crowns under the dash on the left side.

Thanks clift_d, I shall be checking that for sure. I'm sure its not a complicated problem but it would be nice to know even what colour the wires are that I'm looking for.
So also thank you very much mr cobblers. I knew you had a Swede too so thought you might chip in.
Much appreciated both. And especially syncroandy for exactly what I be needing to read.
