MOT Mileage

When looking at the MOT history of a classic bus with a view to buy is there any reasonable explanation why the mileage might change from km to miles with quite a large discrepancy between years?
E.g. 2009=160000km, 2010=55000 miles

The dash board instruments were probably swapped over to an mph one. I swapped my kmh one to a different kmh one with very different odo readings- it didn't seem to affect anything mot wise.

As above , not unusual on old or imported vehicles, I would take very little notice of vehicles mileage as a metric for old vehicles

I still have kms on my clock ( not a problem for MOT) and mostly it is noted as Km in the MOTs, sometimes they write the figure incorrectly as miles and once or twice they have bothered to convert it. Plus for a year or two I had a different clock in there whilst mine was being repaired (never press the trip reset unless the truck isn't moving was my lesson from that one). So my MOT mileage is pretty inconsistent but does make sense if you look at the big picture an ignore the anomalies.
I generally ignore the mileage readings and just judge the vehicle on its merits.

Thanks everyone that’s really helpful and reassuring. I’ve got a big week of viewings coming up
