1.6 JX the 12v supply to the fuel pump “burnt out” the loom wire , van lost the 12 v supply , traced the wire to a white connector in the rear black junction box , this connector had melted . I checked the front fuse board connector D white block connector the wire had got very hot in the white plug . I think it’s pin D2 black wire. No fuse blew .. I checked the fuses they are standard blade fuse , although some had corroded in their position ( not water ingress) I think they have been in place a long time . They had the correct ampere fuses in the correct positions. When I repaired the the wiring in the rear black junction box I fitted an in line fuse 5amp rate .
i made “Good” the wire in white plug connector D . The 5 amp fuse has blown once in rear black box so I updated the fuse to @7.5 amp. I have checked the wire to the pump it has not chaffed and is in good order.
can anyone suggest a reason for the original failure ?? Apart from a dead short to earth is their any thing on this circuit that would cause this failure.
