Eberspacher revival? Reading area

Oue '89 westy eberspacher has been on my fix list for quite a long time. Ideally looking for someone who could have a look at getting it working again...?

Problems started with failing to light - when switched on, relay clicked and power drawn, and fan came on, then after a few seconds it would let out what I can only describe as a sort of despairing groan and relay click off. Now the fan has stopped working as well.

I think the problem might stem from the loss of the exhaust pipe which runs across the van (after engine conversion), possibly casuing the exhaust sniffer in the eberspacher to shut down (possibly now locked at the computer?). 1989 Diesel club joker so I think a D2L.

Any advice or contacts would be amazing. Not sure at this point whether it is worth attempting to reinstate it, has only been a handful of times it would have been good to have but going out a bit more in bad weather these days so would be good to sort if possible...

Cheers!

Why not go for a new unit? The modern heaters are just so much better than the ones our vans were originally supplied with. A new one is probably just as cheap as having the old one repaired.

Or am I overlooking something?
