Diesel CS engine won't start

Hi, my engine overheated after the coolant hoses burst. It seems that the system was pressurised. Not sure why yet. It did start up again but took a lot of turning over and pumping the throttle. It won't start at all now, so I slackened the injector pipe, but hardly any diesel came out when cranking. I took the pipe off from the pump and just a small squirt of fuel comes out. Is this normal, I expected a high pressure squirt, but I don't really know much about diesel engines. I did take a short video but can't upload it until I open a photobucket account.

Did you press the accelerator right down while you were cranking and observing? Obviously not much fuel will be pumped if you don't.

Ah! No, I just turned the key. Would that increase the pressure. The spurt of fuel that came out didn't seem to have much pressure behind it, I was expecting it to really shoot out, but I haven't really worked on diesels before, so wasn't sure what to expect.
I'll give it a try again tomorrow.

The amount of fuel that comes out depends on how much you press the accelerator . Even then don't expect a flood of fuel. It's only a small engine!

You will get a few drops of fuel at each injector pipe every two revs of the engine.

Oh dear. I tried turning the engine over with throttle depressed, but it was much the same. A spurt of fuel each revolution. I didn't have a 27mm injector socket, but managed to get no 4 injector out with a ring spanner. It was light most of the way, possibly due to the overheating. I connected it to the fuel line and it sprayed okay, I think, as I have no experience to compare. So that was my hopeful, easy option gone.
I checked the compression cold, as I can't run it to warm it up. The Wiki said commpression warm should be 28-34 bar, with a min of 11 bar. I was getting 15 bar, so moderately happy.
The injector socket arrived yesterday and I removed the other 3. No 1 was 18 bar, no 2 was 6 bar and no 3 was 5 bar. Not so happy now.
So, now committed to the engine coming out. I was considering engine swaps, but I don't want the van off the road while I gather an engine and any parts I need. Does anyone know parts availability for the CS engine, and prices for head work etc. It's been a long time since I have had any engine machining done. I don;t imagine there are as many machine shops around now.

Hi, I've put in my other post. The compressions are,
Dry No 1 - 16b No 2 - 10b No 3 - 6b No 4 - 19b
Wet No 1 - 38b No 2 - 36b No 3 - 35b No 4 - 38b
So would look like a ring problem. Still tentatively looking at other engines, but IY engines seem pretty scarce. Are there any other N/A diesel engines that are an easy swap.
