Got the floor pan under the driver (RHD) patched over the weekend and managed to melt the cable cover for the accelerator with the heat!
It still works (still the right length) but about 1 inch is charred and you can see cable through it.
Not wanting to replace the whole thing do you think i could get away with splinting over the gap and taping it? Am i asking for trouble?

put some grease in and shrink wrap the cable with electrical cable shrink sleeving.

shrink wrap in small bits can be got from ebay, paint stripper hot air thinger is the right thing to shrink it but a good hand can use a lighter.
Grease and making sure it doesn't snag up is the important bit, my cable is shocking and aparantly has a sleeve missing but it works for now. fingers crossed and touching wood and all that

there is the alternative of leaving some elf wine overnight and a note for them to fix it....
it's all in here

Maplin sell heatshrink sleeving. I use it all the time for wiring. Its great stuff. It just means youll have to disconnect the cable to slide it on over it though.

thats an excellent idea I merely put gaffer tape over my exposed handbrake cable, the MOT man looked at it then moved on

It's only
one inch of a perfectly good cable that needs attention - and it is still working!

Where do you get this 'elf wine' from, mate ? ? sounds like just what i need!
have searched E-Bay, but nothing. does it work on non-T25-related problems too?
