87 1.6 TD JX PAS belt adjustment

Hi, I apologise as I am sure this has been asked before, but I am struggling to find a post that describes adjustment of the PAS belt on my 87 1.6td jx van.
To start with it has 2 belts.
Youtube shows that the petrol version with PAS has a pivot on the pump to adjust.
But there are too many bolts and too little space to find this on the jx.
From what I can see on brickworks website the replacement belt is a 10x763

Is this a pivoting pump or is it the dreaded shims somewhere?
Thanks, and sorry for such a basic question.

Any photos would be of help as there I can't find anything on YouTube, and the Haynes manual just says "adjust belt as necessary" but not how!

The PAS pump is on a pivoting bracket which is swivelled and locked in place to tension the belt. Unfortunately, neither the JX manual nor the Bentley manual have any information on how to achieve the correct tension.

I don't suppose you have any images of which bolts to loosen to pivot the pump?

Two bolts - see diagram below from Bentley - a pivot bolt at the bottom of the PAS pump bracket and a position setting bolt at the top.

From the Samba Vanagon forum here:
Normally a P/S pump belt should be fairly tight. Correct tension on any V-belt is when you deflect the belt 1/2" with firm finger pressure at the midpoint of the longest freespan.

I can't say whether that's absolutely correct, but it sounds about right.

I'm happy with tension now I know where to adjust. I have ordered a new belt as mine is slipping really badly. Way too much to even adjust.
Thanks again

or alternatively you can 'just' twist the belt by fully 90' in the middle of the longest run with average finger and thumb strength, what ever that is :D
