Hi guys I’m looking for advice as to what size tyre to replace the old cracked tyres on my T25. As of the moment they are on 185/75/14 but don’t really understand tyre sizing.
Is there a better option in terms of size on the same wheels
I’m going to put lower springs on at some point but won’t be soon.
If this has been covered I’m sorry as my searches didn’t flag anything.

If you intend on keeping those wheels, I would stick with that tyre size.

Been struggling to find 185/75/14 locally here in Mid Wales. Can get 185/70/14 and wondering if it would really effect the ratio that much.

Different sizes are possible on std rims, but it will mess with your gearing. Larger sizes probably won't combine well with lowered springs either...

So going smaller with the 70s might be ok. Specially if I lower it one day. Very little over a mile in terms of extra rotation when I went on a calculator app

You really want 185R14C tyres and you'll find the best selection online at places like Oponeo and Black circles and the like, with and without fitting options using a local tyre place.
You can just go to a decent garage that sells and fits tyres and ask them to find you some options
Here in Llanfyllin Station Works Garage, give Steph (she answers the phone and runs the biz in the background - 01691 649649) a ring and ask her what's available, she has direct line to several tyre suppliers and she'll give you a complete price fitted with the dreaded. Sometimes she'll have to make enquiries and ring you back, but sometimes she'll be able to quote while you are on the line.
The small independent garages will usually be cheaper and won't try and upsell you brake or steering work unlike the big chains like ATS and co

Is it OK to put a 195 R14 tyre on a standard spare wheel?

I just put 4 14" Carats on my van with 195 R14 tyres on. My spare is still 185 R14

Absolutely fine, it might be a bit tighter to get in the spare wheel carrier though, try one of your carat wheels first.

Thanks, I just popped out and had the 195 put on the spare and it easily fits the clamshell carrier.

Make sure you carry 5 radiused nuts as steels use these and carats use tapered ones.
You did change the nuts/bolts to tapered ones when you put the carats on, didn't you?
