1.9DG to diesel swap.

I used to own a T25 with a 1.7KY engine which not obviously not quick, but it was very reliable and pretty economical. I had planned to put a 1Y in it but never got round to it before I sold the van after moving house. I still regret selling the van but I now have another - this time a 1.9DG petrol. I wanted another diesel but couldn't find the right one at the time and the van I got this one made sense as it's amazingly rust free and ticked many boxes.
I am not particularly taken with the petrol engine though. It's low mileage and reliable. I've given it a service and coolant change so should be ok for now, but I just think that diesels suit my driving style and T25s in general so at some point would like to change the engine.
I am well aware of the various options available and what is involved with the vaious conversions, but really want to keep the van as simple as possible. I do not want to go down the TDi route with the associated engine management electronics not to mention the probable need for a beefed up gearbox. I would consider a 1Y or AEF non-turbo as a prefered option but these engines are getting very thin on the ground now.
I also like the idea of keeping the van as close to 'standard' as possible - it just appeals to me. So I've been thinking, why not a JX? I like the 1.6TD engines in its various forms and a good one should be reliable and relatively simple. Plus a JX from a T25 would have the advantage of already having the right sump etc etc.
I have looked a lot online and have not found any specific pages, posts etc about this swap. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this or other suggestions.
