Rocker Covers won't stop leaking.. HELP!!!!
Posted: 16 Jul 2025, 19:06
PLEASE can anyone help with this one?
I'm fairly experienced with the engine but this one has brought me to my knees!
I CANNOT stop both sides leaking oil and thought I'd see if anyone on here had any bright ideas?
I have a 2L Air cooled Devon moonraker.
I have tried everything...
Original rocker covers with new gaskets put on with a little grease - LEAKING
New Rocker Covers, new Bails, new gaskets - LEAKING
Both the above with Hylomar Blue - LEAKING
In desperation - EMPI Bolt ons with new gaskets - LEAKING
EMPI with Hylomar - LEAKING
I've tried every tactic and I'm sick of people telling me "just a little grease and new gaskets and I've never had a problem"!
I'm thinking now that I'm trying to treat a symptom rather than the disease..
Anyone with more technical knowhow than me think of anything else?
Ie, is there too much oil in there and the pressure is too high? Is that something that would cause this? Could it be the l is draining out quick enough and they're filling up and building up pressure? As you can see... I'm really trying to think outside the box on this one!
I've found that I think they are sealed then I go for a drive, engine gets hot and they start leaking.
I lost a litre over about 100 miles! my poor heat exchangers are covered in oil all the time which burns off and people keep saying I'm on fire..
HELP!!! PLEEEAASEE!!
