What's the latest fad when it comes to minor seam rust removal?
My mate has a very fancy belt driven 3hp compressor, and he suggests media blasting using his compressor and bag of steel grit. Plus using appropriate PPE of course. Picture of seam rash at bottom. But l'm not keen to do this on my driveway.

Your views please?

hi the lower seam is beyond blasting as it will be rotten inside together with the bottom of the side panal, but thats not what you asked,
We use crushed agate but bear in mind it will only clean up what it can see so to speak,but it will gain you time

Thanks for your reply. No point arguing with your prognosis. You've seen a fair few rusty seams.

But was about using crushed agate on an open driveway? Is it going to cause an annoying dust cloud.

We get our agate from my powder coaters ,it's a nice size compared to sand, doesn't have the toxisity and leaves a far nicer finish, it's reusable a few times as it doesn't break up like sands hence less dust cloud but as with any medium blasted with air it will bounce off the subject etc.i go see if I can take a picky of some shortly and post it up

I'm struggling to find blast media agate. Is it called something else?

garnet.....agate was something we were using today and totally unrelated...
