So what can l use on cylinder head nuts instead of the yellow goo? I'm halfway through a rebuild and have run out.

Just how much are you using???

I can get one tube to do two engines! I have got loads of surplus tubes at work, could have put one in your parcel...

I know.Timing, eh? A blooming bu**er, that is!
It's an opened tube from a 1.9 rebuild last year.
As discussed with you, l decided to reseal the 3 and 4 cylinders on this 2.1 rebuild due to some head nuts not staying at 50nm and springing back to around 35 to 40nm.
This tube is now starting to run out. I have cylinder head 1 and 2 to finish.

Is it acceptable to torque down the head without yellow goo? Then one at a time, release each nut and add yellow sealant and retorque to 50nm again?

Personally, I'd do it all in one hit. It will only come round and bite you on the backside.

Fair enough. I was hoping to fit engine next week. But it been a seven month project so far. Another couple of weeks is not going to hurt.
If l send a SAE to your works' premises, would you be willing to donate a tube or two?
Regards
