Hi I have a 1983 1.9 dg with a pierburg 2e3 carb fitted on waterbox my van.
I'm finding that since replacing the plugs, leads, coil, distributor and refitting after carb cleaning it, that its having trouble turning over fully.
After messing around with the idle (trying about 1.5 - 2.5 turns) and the distributor placement (advanced and retarded) that it will try and idle and cut out. It has also been popping fuel a lot and sounds like ive got a shot gun.
I dont know if i need to replace the carb fully with a new one? (but finding there all out of stock (Boswol)) and the webbers are very expensive.
Any further advice what i can do to try and get it to turn over and idle without it cutting out? any suggestions welcome.

check the vacuum pipes and replace if needed.

As for a replacement Pierburg, the only option is .......................!

My first thought is -
Are you 100% certain that the leads are in the correct order.?

I have only got my carb to pop twice.
Once when the distributor was damp, causing all sorts of arcing problems to the leads.

The second was that I had two leads in the wrong place. Causing one cylinder to fire on the exhaust stroke.

I lie, there is another scenario.

dirty or old fuel could also cause poor running and popping from the contaminants.
How old is your fuel?
