Hi all, I’m still having some issues with the starter motor clicking occasionally and not starting. I’ve replaced the spade connector, but noticed there’s two on my starter and I only have one wire. Can anyone tell me why there’s two spades on it? I’ve attached a pic.



Also, where might it be earthed so I can check that too?

Either not enough voltage getting to starter or poor earth. Or starter solenoid is packing up. You need to test voltage at starter.

Yes one trigger wire and two connectors is normal. Either one will do. They both go to solenoid.
The face of the starter is earth to bell housing.
Try cleaning earth strap from gearbox nose mount to chassis.

However there is a small bush in the bell housing (manual trannies only) that the starter arm sits againsts. Some say that acts as an earth, too.

strip it down, clean up all the carbon, lithium grease the throwout gear shaft , bright the commutator slip ring and inspect the brushes. Pull the solenoid rod, clean it up along with the solenoid body.  That will give it the best chance of further life.

They'll refurb your starter motor or alternator so it's literally like new.
Been using them for years...much better than trying to find a replacement.
I understand that they might not be local enough for most.
