Clutch slave cylinder

Noticed this over the weekend, should I be worried about it letting go completely and leaving me stranded? Look's like it's been like this for a while.

I'm pretty sure thats just a rubber cover but it looks pretty ropy and they don't cost a lot.

That is the FTE branded slave with plastic cup on the end of the shaft. The rust cracked the plastic.
To OP:
Probably will be fine for a while but for the peace of mind it is worth to change it.
Quick job and cheap to do.

you could just replace the push-rod if the cylinder / piston is ok

Yes, if you can find the exact same rod.
The shaft length is difderent between the FTE and ATE design.
All the aftermarket nowadays are the ATE version.
