Automatic Transaxle Code Location.

Internet search gives plenty of information where code is for manual version. But nothing for auto box.
So far all l have found is this. I cannot decipher it, though. And yes... there is a concerning crack. But it's the internals l'm more interested in.

090 is the auto box. And I think you can just about make that out.

Cheers Rob,
You are correct. l see it as 090, too. Not sure of the rest of it, though?
But it the final drive code l'm searching for. Hoping for a NJ 2.1 transaxle making my Christmas. Ho Ho ho!

Still no luck finding transaxle code. Will wait until warmer weather tomorrow and look at my campers on the drive

Decided to go outside now and check on my two auto campers. Nothing at those locations either.
But l did find this loose bolt on the transmission nose bush!

Give this area a gentle scrape with a flat fine file, the code might be quite a shallow stamping?

On the othe pic of this area I can see some numbers on the right side.
Like 1 and 5 or something similar

I think it is rust ridges in the metal?

Gentle file and wetting reveals nothing l can decipher.
Will try again tomorrow.

even on that blurry pic I can make out 089 which is August 1989
I find gentle wire brush then rub with dirty oil and then a look with a strong light (like a good led torch) at oblique angle is best for revealing the code on gearbox cases when corroded, the shadow of the stamping is more revealed than direct on illumination like you get with camera flash and easier to make out
The auto box case being steel is less deeply stamped (twas done by a machine) than the manual alloy cases, but corrodes less
once you see the N the second letter will be easy to differentiate

Thanks for the tip..
I honestly couldn't make out a blooming thing! Then again my eyesight is not so good close up.

Will give it another go tomorrow

Aidan, I think you developed a sense for reading rotten tranny numbers after all those years repairing them ;)

Tried all kinds of fluid and gentle cleaning. Dirty oil, brake fluid, spit, grease plus others'. Magnifying glass used too.
New batteries in LED torch, and nothing pops out to me! Hopefully someone can see the invisible... to me!
