Wipers and Horn not working

Hi all,
New T25 and VW owner here. On friday I picked up a high top T25 in need of some work. Needs an MOT but the wipers and horn dont work.
Wipers issue symptoms: So there are no wipers at all but the wash DOES work. When you try and use the wipers, the fan speed increases? Weird. Have tried relays but no luck.
Could it be the fuse? or the motor itself?
Horn wise, no idea yet. It was an advisory on a recent ish MOT so it may be a hidden issue.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks!

Check the fuses and wiring to the wiper motor.. you can see with the dash on but have to pretzel yourself under the dash to see.

Something fairly straightforward to also try is cleaning the connections at the earth crowns - they're located on the left A-pillar under the dash, above / behind the fuse board. You'll need to unscrew the fuse board from the body so that you can push it and all the still connected wiring out of the way to get access, then disconnect everything from the earth crowns, clean them up with a bit of Scotchbrite or similar, and then reconnect everything again.

Ahh thanks both. Will have a look today. The fuses all seem intact but we could change just incase.

You really need to tell us the age of the van , early fuses are bullet , later are blade , and different locations

It's a 1984 which I believe are bullet ones. We can see that they all look intact though.
Thanks

It’s entirely possible you have an earthing issue and the wiper motor is seeking negative path via the heater fan motor .
As for the horn, first thing to to ensure the horn actually works, take a direct +&- from a battery to the horn itself , then if it works make sure there is +12vdc at the horn which the ignition on , and take the steering wheel off and check the horn ring is contacting the horn spring contact , and that the switched negative is making it down the steering column, you will find where it bridges the rubber section near the bottom

I've had fuses that looked perfect turn out to be blown, so I would advise to at least try with a new fuse (or try the old one in another slot to see it that item still works)
