1y not starting.

After pulling the throttel arm off my 1y to swap on the ky bits, my 1y no longer starts.

Turns over all nice but nothing. I've checked for loose wires, all good as they were. Sucked up the diesel to the top of the pump and made sure theres lots of fuel in there.. still nothing.

Cracking the 17mm nut offa injector 1 I expected to see fuel squirting out there. Even After 5 mins (two batteries and a jump start! oops) still nothing.

checked all fuses, editied as not 12v on the glow rail

Cannot understand why its still not working, nothing has changed. Any ideas?

I've seen this post http://archive.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=16149 where wire A is wired up..

on mine it was running without

Or Is that the wrong one??

So from that Post I need to wire a to the start

like that?? or am i totally of the mark? if for a change im right.. then why/how did it run before?

Cheers

The lower one is the fuel cut off, this needs a 12v supply with igntion on, should be a black wire. Upper one is a full load limiting soleniod, will not stop it starting.

Which fuel filter type have you got 2 pipes in/out or 4?

Have you tried the throttle in different postions(full) when cranking to see if you have messed up with the splines, easily done.

fuel filter is 2 pipes one from tank one to the pump

yeh I thought the Throttle position might be the prob. So i've tried turning it round.. still nothing.

will get multimeter out make sure theres a 12v feed in morning.

You won't have a problem with the 2 pipe filter. When you have messed with a 4 pipe filter especially if its cold air just keeps getting recirculated around.

You don't need a multimeter, switch ign on and pull wire on and off you should here a faint click from the soleniod if it does'nt then get your multimeter out.

HAHA found the problem i think.. Relay fuse is gone.. just though its a link bar.. but noo!! So what size fuse is it? and where do you get one from ... looks rather unique.

could get a piece of wire and a blade fuse in there i gues...

Well pull off return pipe and crank it over and see if anything comes out. These pumps normally self bleed quickly unless really worn.

Did you check for power at cut off soleniod? even if it has power remove it and put it back in and see if that cures it.

After that you need to make sure there is no 100% no fuel getting to injectors at this stage your pump is dead.

yeah thats the next one. gotta get a new battery now too its not holding any charge. I pick one up from halfwits on way home tomorrow and see how it goes.

it does get power to the soliniod you hear it click etc

"ven if it has power remove it and put it back in and see if that cures it."
you mean pull out the solinoid and put it back in? I'll make sure we're getting fuel out the return first

thanks for the advices

The soleniods can stick for no aparatant reason, simply removing and refitting sorts them out.

FIXED

One happy boy :) Just driven it down the road loverly :) need s a few tweaks but hey its running...

combination of knackered battery, leaking injector 1 bust fuse and a dry pump and 2/4 glows were knakered.. kinda makes starting in the cold a little hard !

Thanks for the advise on this one guys much appreciated.
