Spare switch on dash

Afternoon all

I would like to make use of the spare switch location (above the hazard warning light switch)

I am after a standard on/off switch ideally without an icon but can only find fog & hazard ones available)

Does anyone know what would have gone in the 3rd position

I also wonder if a switch from an 80's era Jetta or polo would fit?

Cheers

third switch was usually heated rear window
all switches have symbol, but mostly just screen printed so can be removed
the Hazard switch is common with the golf mk 1 so golf and other early models may have switches that fit the aperture
easiest way to do a simple switch is to use the blank and fit a switch through it, single pole, double pole, momentary, latching, three position, as required
The blank isn't that readily available, so keep an eye out for a spare so you can undo the mod if you like
If you have access to a 3d printer you could make a rocker with no symbol and use which ever switch suits your need, heated rear window is the simplest, but also the rarest, there's a new one on Ebay for £60
Stevens have used early golf ones for a fiver, symbol is different to ours but switch looks the same, but without having one in the hand to check I can't be certain it fits our hole or has the same tab/groove fit

I think admins should make Aiden a swearword and auto correct it to Aidan :rofl

Yeah rear heated screen switch is what goes there generally.. although some have an LPG icon/switch there instead that I've seen.

Passat B2 I think used the same switches (childhood recollection of Mum's first Passat wagon)

that's right 321 is early Passat, a lot of parts were shared across different platforms back then, there's a good deal of early golf stuff on a T3, as well as parts carried over from the bay window and you find 251 parts on other vehicles of that era
The early Passat headlight switch is basically the same as ours in some versions but has different symbol so it's a 321 part, but they are interchangeable if they have the same terminals
