I just realized that my fan switch is stuck. Is this common? Would I be better off ordering a new one than wasting time trying to fix something that can't be repaired?

They quite often melt , particularly when the motors starting to fail , pull the switch and take a look, new switches are only a few pounds and seem to last ok

cheap enough to just replace the switch, but make sure your fuse is the correct rating (20A, fuse 13 on a late van with blade fuses). Sometimes people will put a higher rating fuse in to mask a seized up blower motor, then the next link in the chain fails.
If the motor sounds rough or it works intermittently then it's on the way out, and it needs replacing really which is a dash out job.
