Excessively noisy fuel pump

Hi there,
My T25 fuel pump became unbelievably noisy and the diagnosis was to change it. which we did.
Its as noisy as ever and quite frankly ruining the lovely sound of my putt putt engine!!
With the old pump the throttle occasionally lost power when the tank was low and I wondered if low pressure could be causing the noise?
Also, did they used to have a pump casing, which would have deadened the noise?

Sorry if these are idiotic questions...I just want to hear my fabulous engine and not this screaching pump.

Thanks to anyone with ideas.

Oops sorry its a 1985 1.9 petrol engine

Unless its a DH engine ( injection not carb) it should be a mechanical pump unless someone has upgraded top a electric one
A picture would help us help you

I've never heard a pushrod type fuel pump screeching on any engine. Are you sure that its been correctly diagnosed? A failed water pump making a grating noise I could understand, or even a noisy alternator bearing.

Looks like a DJ code engine, they don’t appear to have replaced the fuel filter ?

Looks like this bolt is touching on the chassis - is it?

Hi Folks,

Being new to this forum I havent worked out if i can reply individually to each post. Or even if I can! LOL Please excuse my newness to this fabulous forum.

However I am really grateful for the insights and guidance and really enjoying the insights this is bringing.

I got into and under her today and this is all I have discovered - thanks to EVERYONE

I now have an engine number !! woooohoooooo   DJ071086
The fuel pump is NOT touching the chasis. It was the angle I took the photo.
It is a cheap pump 'Classic Line' from Heritage parts for £65 - I have the part number if thats at all helpful?
Is the fuel filter the black cylinder in front of the fuel pump? Should I change it now the new pump is on?
Im not 100% sure its been correctly diagnosed but when you get under the van, the noise defo seems to be coming from the fuel pump area. However my novice understanding of mechanics means I am unaware of other parts going on nearby.

I think i have answered everything and am super grateful of any advice on what to do next.

many thanks
