Hi all,
so i have a stock setup 14' Syncro with stock wheels and tyres.
I've bought 5 Tuff Torque steels and now need to put some rubber on them. My shortlist is ...
- GENERAL GRABBER AT3 - 205 70 15 C 106 /104S - £117 each
- BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 - 215 75 15 /100s - £168 each
- INSA Ranger 3 - 205 70 15 / 96S = £102 each
any comments on the above would be hugely appreciated.

The practical, thinking mans choice would be the 205/70/15 General Grabbers. You'll get 85% of the capability of the BFGs, but with less road noise and without a significant increase in the gearing or drag
I've had 215/75/15 KO2s on my 14" DJ syncro and it was fine, but the increased radius is quite noticeable when driving, as is the extra drag. The bigger size looks a bit more aggressive and you gain a bit of ground clearance. That said, KO2s are perfectly usable as an every day tyre, I run them on my T6 and do 14k+ a year in it.
Insa Rangers are a remould knockoff of an old BFG KO tyre. They're a good quality remould, but they are not a "refined" tyre, and are quite noisy for an all terrain. I would personally rather spend the extra and get the K02.
Think very carefully before going for 215/75/15 on a lower powered syncro, too. They make a DJ noticeably more sluggish. A DG or JX would be quite miserable.

Thems wise words above
BFG's seem to last forever,
if you can stretch to them theres the payback.
Also seem indestructible, kerbing and so on,
and I have never had a puncture in one!
The old grabbers were nice, ..seemed to wear,
never regretted spending the extra.

thanks for the replies
ive decided to go for the "miserable" option, the KO2's. my rational??!!.....
I have a set of stock 14", with new tyres that I'm keeping. A set of Sahara 2 mud tyres (215/75/15) with Merc rims that are now surplus and the soon to be KO2's. So i have choices and expensive spares
Stock Set...
Sahara's
Close up Sahara's
I will post updates when they on and a review of my experience, especially the performance difference...
