JX 1.6TD- New head, no oil?

Fitted a new (AMC) head to my JX and after reassembly there doesn't seem to be any oil getting to the head at all upon turning it over. I've removed the head to check that I hadn't accidentally installed the head gasket upside down (I hadn't) and running the oil pump from the pulley oil was pumping happily from the hole in the block. Oil pump is recent and didn't seem to have an issue with the old head. I'm probably doing something stupid or I've missed something I needed to do/fit so hopefully someone can point it out.

Many thanks.

How long have you been turning it over to get
Oil up?

A couple of minutes I'd guess, definitely felt like a long time.

Wasn't there a post about some heads not having an oilway that matched the block? ( a long time ago )
I'll see if I can find it.

Can't find it - I remember that I placed two pics from the post together so that you could see the difference between the two heads.

As there’s 2 different head gaskets and 2 different heads it possible
