Good afternoon, I really hope you can help.
I bought our camper last year (1988 caravelle hightop) and I left it without starting for almost 6 months unbeknown to me that there would be problems with getting it going again.

The battery is fine but its turning over without starting. I have looked at it with a friend who is slightly more knowledgeable than myself.

We tried 'easy start' and the egg cup of fuel into the carb. Neither worked, just spluttered and died.

After removing the fuel line and starting it was clear that there was no fuel coming through so this is likely to be fuel pump or a blockage?

How can I locate fuel pump/filter and is there any checks I can do myself as I cant move the vehicle to a garage. Either with pump or filter or to check line isn't blocked?

A friend mentioned to try and turn the ignition on and tap the fuel pump with a spanner.

We are desperate to get back out of there in our lovely camper so any help would be hugely appreciated.

I’m no expert but does sound like fuel pump or filter blocked. There’s a filter underneath near the fuel tank.
Do you know if it using the original fuel pump or after market electric pump? If the electric pump you should hear it clicking when you turn on the ignition. They can fail but cheap and easy to replace. I have no experience of the factory pump though, sorry.

If it’s a standard pump, whip it off and work it manually to see if it’s pumping. If it is bung some grease under it and go from there. Filter should be down by the tank. Check the pipes/ connections haven’t deteriorated.
