Early Slding door Catch fouling on door card

Hi,
Just fitted s new door card to my early slider, and the return hook latch thing (to keep the slider open) fouls on the card, threatrening to make a huge rip
this used to happen on the old card too, though not as prominent since it was thinner and more rotten.
Am i missing any rubber stopper or part, to restrict the hook springing out so far, like my finger is doing in the last pic?
thanks!

I'll have a look at mine but I think it might be a late one so be of no use to see if somethings missing.
Could be the cam worn perhaps? Or the springs not sitting where it should be... just guesses..

Looks like your spring isn't where it should be

The retaining stop is not stopping the hook ?

Now you've put both the pictures side by side yeah its bent out on slowcoaches.. maybe a savage bodge.. the spring might be the wrong way around as well..that 90 bend might be for the hole on the underside..

This is my early slider. The card I'd uncovered, but even so there is a gap that a finger fits between catch and card. Also a gap between card and runner cover panel. Looks like your door is closer to the body than mine.

Thanks mocki, I noticed this too, but wondered if it's different on early /late?
The spring engagement looks different to stesaw's, but wouldn't change the throw.
I'll take the cover panel off and see if it looks bent.
Here's the spring. I got it from someone on here years ago, it didn't have one when I got the van. Early spring different to late spring? Gahh who knows. Just removed it for now so I don't forget and rip the new door card

Who knows, mine might not be correct

Nice thanks! Looks the same spring fitting I have. Need to check next to see if that stopper is bent, like the side by side pic highlights.
If it is, I'd have a finger gap too, I think...

Don't do it!!! Probably won't go back in, or shoot off into oblivion
I'll take the metal panel off tomorrow and see if I can persuade the stopper back a bit with a tappy tap hammer

A bit of swearing and hitting it with a hammer might sort it out

You can swing the sliding door out of the way to adjust the hook , have a axle stand set at the height of the bottom of the door and roll it open until the middle hinge roller is at the gap in the track and lift it off and then the door will be out of the way and rest it on the axle stand , or remove it all together ( but they are heavey )
