Ok, elephant in the room. I’ve been daft. I’ve just done an oil change (T25 1.9 petrol Aircooled) and I guessed at the oil filter. Would you believe it, I guessed wrong! Yes I should’ve looked first. That aside, can I change the filter without emptying the oil again. As you can probably tell, I have no idea what I’m doing.

The top of the filter can is well above the sump oil level, so won't drain out. It's good practice to fill the filter with oil before fitting.
The air cooled engines are 1.6 or 2 liter, The 1.9 is watercooled.
