1700 A/C engine

Hi folks,
Does anybody have experience of installing a 1700 type 4 engine to their T25?
I am due to remove my 2.0 CU due to a little oil leak. It has been running great so not overly concerned.
But there is a good condition 1700 available with 40 IDF's on it at a reasonable price.
I wondered what the issues would be with swapping it out. I assume the 1700 has less torque than the 2000?
Any pointers appreciated!

Keep the 2ltr , you really need a different gearbox to suit the 1700, less torque low down more revvy
Most air cooled have Small leaks, it will still be an unknown

That has been my plan to be honest.
The leak is pretty small, but leaks onto the exhaust, which is just annoying as it stinks.
I can't find the tinware anywhere for over the cylinders. Brickwerks have one side, but not the other. It is expensive from Brickwerks (as it should be).
I've asked on here but no responses (i did get the piece over the bellhousing from here though).
So wondered if the 1700 would work better as it has the good bits with it.
I suppose i could strip all the good bits and sell the engine

I wasn't aware of PKW no, i have just had a quick scan of their facebook page though, cheers for the heads up.
Well, i'll probably give it a miss. The engine is currently fitted to a t25, so not sure what they have done regarding tinware.

The oil leak could just be the pushrod tube seals which can be sorted out without removing the engine.

If it’s rocker cover or push rod tubes ( which is quite likely) they are fairly straightforward to do

I put new barrels and pistons in the van last year. I rebuilt the top ends with new seals etc, so i'm not certain where it is coming from.
It appears to be higher up on 1-2 side of the engine. Looks like a tinware off job, hence wanting to take the engine out to investigate.
It runs nicely though, which is good!
