New seal from BW, seemed to be good quality crepe foam. Fitted it last summer with evostik contact adhesive, taped it in place, locked the hatch down and left it for weeks to settle (same technique usen on cab door seals and they are ok)
Hatch seal has now come off while installing the engine, brushed it with my arm and it fell off.
The glue hasn't adhered to the seal at all.
In fact it can be peeled off the metalwork too (paint unaffected)
Any thoughts/tips? I don't care what I use to fix it into the channel but I do want it to be permanent.

That's an odd one. I used the same glue on mine a couple of years ago and it has stayed stuck down. 

We had the same issue with cab door seals , until we realised we hadn’t cleaned the door seals nor the metal with something to remove the greasiness ….. i think we used isopropyl ( can’t remember now if it was that or alcohol) and applied a layer to each surface and let it dry before pressing the two together …… we used genuine eco stick

Thinking back, I seem to remember cleaning both surfaces with brake cleaner.

Scotch brite on the fresh paint and i scotch the seal too , only where the glue touches , glue on each side, let it tac off then stick down, should only take a few minutes to stick, leaving it with tue hatch down helps, is it tue foam symmetrical profile or tue rubber with a groove on one side ?

Just tried to glue it a few days ago with pattex contact glue with bad success rate.
Even wiped the rubber with acetone but it did not help.

Preparation is everything.  Fitted my BW hatch seal several years ago, cleaned both surfaces with panel wipes (all I had at the time) and it's still bonded firm.
