Hi, I'm trying to sort out all electronics under the dashboard (removing unused stuff, redoing bad connectors etc.) and I think I got a clear understanding of most of it. Except for two mystery wires.

Early fuse panel. They are both yellow/red and go to the front loom together with lights, washer pumps, horn.

Wire 1:
Input side of fuse 2 (which is linked to input side of fuse 1). The wire is connected to a diode, with the "bar" of the diode (cathode?)  on the fuse input side. After the diode it goes to the mentioned front loom. See picture, yes I broke one diode leg heh.

Wire 2:
Input side of fuse 4 (together with yellow from dip switch). Goes to the mentioned front loom.

I've checked all wires arriving at the front lights, indicators, washer pump(s), horn..
Last resort will be to open the cable sleeve and trace it visually, but I rather avoid that if someone got any hints.



 

Okey, I split open the cable and found it going to the off side (LHD), pulled one of the yellow/red wires out and....found a loop?!

I guess this could be used to "heat" the cables up, but why? So yellow wire from dip switch (input fuse 4), via diode to the side lights (input fuse 2)?

And solved, sort of. Asked this question in a swedish facebook group as well. This setup was done in Sweden to reduce the light during day time usage. And the diode was added to allow parking lights to be turned on without current leaking to the dip/main lights.

Now I just have to figure out how this affects my upgrade to Campervan Culture's Headlight relay wiring loom.

Check the Club80-90 WIKI as the Headlight/Relay upgrade is covered with Diagrams and Information.     The Diode Mod really needs to be done properly - crimping and soldering it 'in line'  as shown in your picture is a poor method.
