Too cheap?

Had a blow out on our way home. Tried to get a new 185 R14C today but some of the local garages do not stock or can even get one, this includes KwikFit. One garage said they could get some in and would call me with details. Message on my answer machine that they have ordered a pair and the price is £48 each plus VAT. That seems too cheap to me and decent brands don’t seem to be manufactured anymore other than the Maxiss Wormdrive in 185 R14C size which look chunky and well made but seem to be more suited to off road use, other than those I can only find cheap budget brand tyres. Anyone has recommendations of a decent 185 R14C tyre let me know.

Plenty of known brands here

As Mocki says a 195r14 will do no harm either ..

Thanks chaps, the 195’s are slightly wider and probably a better fit for my Carat Alloys. I bought the Carat alloys about 14 years ago and they came with 185’s rather than the 205’s. The Carat alloy with 185s fits in the spare wheel carrier without any mods being needed to it and the higher profile helps a bit with the gearing.

I believe 205/70r14 were the factory for on Carat alloys.
