window seals

Hello all, havent posted on here in a long time. So after bringing my camper out of storage and seeing a fair bit of water in the camper after some rain, decided to replace the seals. all the existing seals are rock hard, and as it turns out has been leaking a long time (the amount of rot i have found is upsetting).
I bought the just Kampers window seal set with the insert, and have been struggling to get them to fit. it took about 2 hours to get one in. The windows are in, but they are just not sitting right! they appear to be doing their job, and no more rain, but they look crap.
is this a common issue, or is it just me? any recommendations?
cheers
Rich
