2.1 litre WBX tappet lock nut torque setting 1986 t25 syncro

Tried my small torque wrench on one of the  14mm tappet lock nuts on my old engine and its registering with its click at least 20 lbft but dont want to overtighten it or under tighten it even though its not used currently or even know if the nut was torqued correctly in the first place as I dont know if anyone altered it after VW 23 years ago, so anyone got a reference or preferred setting to the correct torque as I cant see anything in either Bentley or Haynes for the actual  tappet screw lock nut so am thinking of  18ft/lbs when I check the tappets that some other nuts are torqued to on the head for the  engine in our VW .
What do others think?

Its a fine thread so doesn't require a heavy torque. Firm rather than hard, as the actress said to the bishop ;)
Being as you have to hold the screw steady as you tighten the nut, you would need a hollow 1/2" drive piece fitted to your torque wrench to allow the screwdriver to pass through. Never seen one myself.
