Different types of engine cover?

My engine cover doesn't seem to fit right no matter what i do. Its plastic and i have a '89 ex panel van, 1.7 diesel.
Can anyone point me to any info about the various lids that were produced for different models? Mine is plastic which would make sense for a diesel i guess.
TIA

There are two types, very heavy metal and the “plastic” you have .

If we are going to be pedantic there are three different ones , but only two for van bodies , the pick up is very rare and different size

Just to be clear, are the tabs on the rear of the lid sitting into the brackets ok? Can you explain in what way yours does not fit?
